I have a fascination with kite turbines. If you launch one in the
right spot it could stay up for years with about 4,000 feet of cable.
Turbines like this would have to put out 900 volts or more to make up for the line loses.
At 4000 feet high the wind almost never stops blowing in many parts of the world!
An ideal sea-born design, thousands of these 'Kite Turbines" could
be hooked up to a "winder-cable" strung out between two old oil rigs.
Teflon coated carbon fiber cable would be highly conductive and light weight.
A wind farm like this would be a permanent "No Fly Zone" for all aircraft!!
50 Mega Watts of free power might be worth the "dog-leg" to any aircraft!
