What
is "GUNK" - Glycerin groups, fatty acids, saponified
oils and fats
plus
a whole host of other compounds you do not want in your engine!
The arrows point to the "GUNK"
layer. Salt creates powerful Osmotic Forces which 'tugs'
out much of
the glycerin groups, fatty acids, saponified
oils and any other undesirable fats out of the oil.
- The WICKING® filter quickly separates
out the "gunk" while allowing the fuel grade oil to
"Wick" into the filter element on its final journey
to the Acusorb beads®. This complete process is called "Bio-Pass"®
-
- Gunk thickness will depend on many factors including ambient
temperature and Diesel admixture ratios.
-
- Just stay alert as this takes experience and practice. Just
knowing what is happening is half the challenge and the photo
above says it all! Who would have thought a partial glycerin
separation could be this easy?
-
- This reaction works best above 115 F. minimum. This reaction
will happen in just seconds at 115 F.+
-
- With heat is added to the reaction the fuel quality is superb
and quicker GUNK separation occurs!
-
- OK let's recap the
formula and methods used:
- Waste oil + super saturated
salt water + extra salt, add some Diesel fuel + 115 F. heat + 5 minutes of agitation,,,
-
- DONE! Now wait a few minutes
before you open the valve and get your fuel out!
-
-
- Warning! The fuel floating
on the top MUST be run past Acusorb® or Dual-pole
- beads to remove the Cl
(chlorine) from the molecular "caps" of the oil molecules.
- Salt is NaCl and some
of the Na (Sodium) has gone into forming 'Glycerin soap' in the
Gunk layer.
- This is a called saponification and
it leaves some Chlorine atoms that need to be dealt with by passing
the oil through resin /beads!
-
- HINT: For very 20 degree
increase F. of heat the speed of any chemical reaction doubles
exponentially!
- HEAT IS GOOD! If you have
your oils are preheated to 115 F. your fuel reaction will be
instantaneous!
